Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Our well-known manufacturing client in the Etobicoke, ON area is looking for a skilled Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join their team.  If you have experience working in a high-volume GMP environment and safety is your top priority, then look no further, this role was designed for you!In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the H&S Manager with the implementation of safety training through training, meetings, risk assessments, and audits to help maintain the EHS programs.The Role: Understand hazardous waste regulations and by-laws that apply to the facility’s industrial waste and ensure compliance Provide support in all Environmental and Sustainability programs; recycling and energy waste reduction. Carrying out internal safety audits such as LOTO and Machine Guarding.  Participate/coordinate all investigations on recordable, first aid, near misses incidents to ensure that preventative measures carried out  Coordinate/perform job specific H&S training as outlined in the EHS3 training matrix. Be an active participant during the JHSC meetings; audits; corrective action follow up Support EHS3 Manager on managing WSIB and reducing financial impact by administering claims management with emphasis on early and safe RTW program, medical management, modified duties, re-employment, liaison with WSIB Adjudicator, management of NEER costs Manage the EH3 program by ensuring policies are in place and address gaps identified. Coordinate industrial hygiene survey such as noise survey for all applicable department. Coordinate safety reviews (PSSR), Job Hazard Analysis on a regular basis Guide and support all location management on injury, property damage, spill reporting into our EHS3 platform.Requirements: University and/or College preferred specialized in Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Discipline. Experience in a GMP environment Computer literate in Word, Excel, Database (JDE), SharePoint, Outlook. Flexible to be on call 24 hours.
