Spray Painting Operative

We are currently working with an automotive manufacturer in Sunderland area who is currently looking to appoint a spray painting/ finesse operative to start within the next month. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a new production plant with a well established global presence.Individual Responsibilities:Work with instructions and work orders from the process supervisor, assistant or lead personResponsible for preparing parts and assemblies for painting & PolishingMix paint and other materials according to specification or formulaEnsure facility and spray painting & polishing equipment are in good working conditionResponsible for the identification and separation of non-conforming parts or materials and report them to supervisorsUtilize spray gun and apply paint in conformance with all specificationsEmploy heat or oven paint drying techniques for special purpose finishesMonitor machine gauges and equipment operation to discover defects/deviations from standards, and make necessary adjustmentsComplete touch up and spot repair where necessaryUtilize solvents, polish heads, and cloths for cleaning sprayers and power equipmentFollow company requirements to select paint, and match colours of paint following specified colour chartsResponsible for material and minor maintenance.Ensure a safe working environment and excellent housekeeping standardsOther duties commensurate to the roleKey SkillsBTEC Certificate/Diploma in Vehicle Technology levels 2 and 3.City and Guilds Entry Level Award in Vehicle Systems and Body and Paint Maintenance.City and Guilds Certificate/Diploma in Vehicle Body and Paint OperationsInstitute of the Motor Industry (IMI) awards in vehicle Body and Paint Operations (Refinishing) levels 1 to 3.NESHAP (National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants)Understanding of Health and Safety requirements within manufacturingExcellent attention to detailAbility to concentrate and coordinate tasksAbility to blend paint rework methodology, polishing etc.Familiar with safely handling solvents and chemicalsAble to blend paint, identify and correct pain defectsExpertise in utilizing various polishing tools, spray painting tools and equipment such as pressure pots, spray guns, hoses, nozzles, gauges, cup guns, conveyor line, paint gun cleaner unit, protective spray painting equipment, paint shakers, and high-liftsIf you are interested, please apply online and we will contact you should you be a successful applicant
