Research Assistant/Associate (Fixed Term, Full-Time/Part-Time)

The Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge wishes to appoint a Research Associate with experience in higher education research to work on research projects exploring and evaluating initiatives to support student access and success in higher education. This will include a research project to evaluate the provision of financial support to students in the University of Cambridge. The postholder will be responsible for supporting a range of research projects, using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. The postholder will also support the preparation of presentations, drafting of academic and policy papers, and the management of the research projects. They will be expected to work collaboratively with other researchers working on similar projects in the Faculty of Education and across the wider University. In relation to the evaluation of financial support provision in the University of Cambridge, the postholder will engage regularly with students and will work collaboratively with colleagues in the Cambridge Admissions Office, Colleges, and other University departments. Applicants must hold a PhD (or be close to completion) in Education, Economics, or other relevant discipline. Applicants must have experience of qualitative research, including preparing research instruments, collecting data through qualitative means (e.g. interviewing), as well as quantitative research, including the preparation and statistical analysis of data. Appointment as Research Associate is dependent on having a PhD, including those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD (in which case appointment will initially be made at Research Assistant and amended to Research Associate when the PhD is awarded).
