Research Analyst- European Gas Short-Term

Wood Mackenzie is seeking a highly motivated European gas short-term analyst to join our Europe gas markets research team. Europe is playing an increasingly important role across the broader global gas and LNG market. This role will focus on forecasting the monthly short-term European gas balance and price outlook. Collaboration will be required across Wood Mackenzie’s analysts in global gas & LNG, power & renewables and other commodity teams to deliver an integrated short-term fundamentals-based analysis of the European gas market for our clients.You will be responsible for the running of Wood Mackenzie’s short-term European gas models. Leveraging knowledge of European gas infrastructure, flows and price setting mechanisms, you will deploy your analytical skills to deliver a granular supply/demand outlook of European gas market. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating market commentary to explain the outlook in a clear and compelling manner to our clients. You will interact with clients through webinars, conferences and one-to-one engagement to promote Wood Mackenzie’s expertise in energy analytics.You will work across our multi-disciplinary team of analysts, modellers and data scientists to construct short-term forecasts consistent with Wood Mackenzie’s broader Commodity Analytics group. As we develop out further our short-term capabilities, you will find yourself at the centre of our product development program – helping Wood Mackenzie grow and enhance our short-term product suite.You will focus on identifying high quality data inputs, using analytical techniques to fill gaps where necessary, to be incorporated into Wood Mackenzie’s proprietary gas models, providing transparency to underlying assumptions and forecasts. These models underpin monthly short-term forecasts extending out two years at a market level. You will undertake interpretive analysis to assess gas market trends, constructing written narratives to deliver results to internal and external stakeholders
