About this job & primary purpose:The Technical authority for Power generation Internal Combustion Engine powered product lines to include ancillaries. Provide technical product governance for a global fleet of conventional power generation products and negotiate, create, influence, inform specifications and requirements for new product developments for fleet transitioning. Provide strong and decisive technical leadership that is apparent throughout the global engineering communities. Working closely with Product Managers, operational engineers, sales functions and commercial teams provide input to product level business cases and provide innovative options to enhance techno-economic propositions.Your key responsibilities: * Responsible for ensuring continuity of enduring product knowledge including succession planning for own expertise. * Optimising and advising on product servicing regimes to ensure maximised Opex and product lifecycle * Definition of technical competencies for installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of products. * Technology prospecting – current state of the art (understanding market/competitors/vendors), selecting and assessing appropriate technologies for fleet inclusion. * Product quality, performance and reliability metric production including identification of initiatives to improve. * Interpreting user requirements and translating and owning the technical product specification for new product developments, 3rd party purchases or lifecycle upgrades. * Down-selection of the strongest and most suitable conceptual product designs * Specifying and ensuring the availability, accuracy of product data to include documentation, certifications, performance models, data models and application guidance. * Advising and strategising on spares requirements for newly developed products and incumbent fleet. * Advising on specific product training requirements to ensure successful introductions to incumbent fleet. * Specifying compatibility requirements of (external) system interfaces; interactions with other complimentary products * Installation, maintenance and testing procedures including compliance with ESR and global standards. * Informing make/buy decisions and vendor technical appraisalsKPI’s * Strong demand for product lines and fleet competitive advantage being exploited * Open reliability statistics, cost impact and time to close. * Product data integrity deriving value from analytics * Product Overall Equipment Effectiveness (including performance) * Parts consumption * Durability - product reaching/surpassing its expected useful lifeGrade / Internal Job Title:Sound like you?
