Some of the key areas of our work are network charging, monopoly regulation, market arrangements, and access to networks.Job descriptionThe Policy Analyst role is in the Gas Systems team which sits within the Energy System Management & Security (ESM&S) portfolio of the Systems and Networks division. The Gas Systems team’s key areas of work include:- Ensuring the gas transmission and distribution charging regimes deliver the right signals to users and value to consumers.- Regulation of the gas system operator, including setting incentives. - Deciding on industry proposals to modify the Uniform Network Code (UNC) and other industry arrangements relating to charging and access to network capacity.- Other policy issues relating to the efficient and effective running of the GB gas system. This may include work on gas and heat decarbonisation in the context of ‘net zero’, including hydrogen and bio-methane.ResponsibilitiesAs Policy Analyst, you will contribute to policy development and analysis, including on complex and contentious issues. You will take part in industry meetings, building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will contribute to producing robust analysis to make evidence-based recommendations on policy areas to senior decision makers. You will work closely with colleagues in our legal and economics teams to ensure risk is managed and policy is compliant and effective. Your project management capabilities will ensure that you balance a portfolio of industry code modifications to ensure timely Ofgem input in a rapidly evolving part of the energy sector.
