Materials Buyer – Construction Chelmsford Area £30,000 to £40,000 per annum Our client is a well established Civil Engineering contractor working predominantly within the residential sector. Due to a full order book, the company are now looking for an experienced materials buyer with construction experience. The role will be working in a small buying team procuring materials for a number of active sites. Key Responsibilities include: * Preparing accurate quantities and material schedules, competitively sourcing & coordinating the supply of plant & materials required * Negotiating with suppliers & building strong robust, long term relationships * Producing, understanding & maintaining procurement schedules, raising Purchase Orders as necessary * Supporting the site teams by ensuring materials are provided to the specification and programme for the project & contingencies in place where over runs occur * Being proactive with suppliers, subcontractors on price increases, material availability, etc. You will need a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a similar role and a strong knowledge of the Groundwork and Civil engineering sector.
