Lecturer - Construction (Painting and Decorating)Care, Sport & Construction1.0 FTE / 35 hours per weekFixed term: August 2021 until June 2022Base: Falkirk CampusWe have a vacancy for a suitably qualified lecturer with a background in painting and decorating. You will be a time served painter and decorator with good practical craft experience and have a Level 3 SVQ qualification or a City and Guilds Craft Certificate in Painting and Decorating. Ideally you will also have an Advanced Craft Certificate in Painting and Decorating and an HNC in a related Construction discipline or equivalent qualification.You will be a confident, flexible, quality driven individual who has a sound technical, professional and operational experience in the subject of painting and decorating as well as good planning and organisational skills. You will have a professional approach to dealing with external organisations as well as the ability to coach and build a rapport with students, motivating them to participate successfully in vocational education and training. You will produce high quality learning, teaching and assessment materials, and deliver excellent teaching within the specialist area. You will work with others to develop new approaches to teaching, making use of learning technologies.Ensuring that the curriculum is relevant and up-to-date, you will contribute to the development of elements of provision and enhance students’ learning through providing support. You will naturally have a strong learner focus.Ideally, you will have experience of developing innovative teaching practice along with good organisational skills and evidence of appropriate ICT skills. You will also possess good knowledge and understanding of health and safety requirements and a sound understanding of quality standards. Ideally, you will have a Personal Development Award in Teaching, or have a willingness to work towards achieving this award.
