Role – Lead Mechanical Design Engineer Type - Permanent Location – Near Aldershot Salary - £40,000- £47,000 per annum plus benefits (please advise what you're looking for) My client designs and manufactures plastic electro-mechanical engineering products, and they are looking to take on a Lead / Senior Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis, near the Aldershot area. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:Degree / HNC/ HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering / Design or similar5 years’ or more of industry experience working as a Senior / Mechanical Design Engineer in a similar design and manufacturing technical environment having project / design ownershipHaving knowledge of 3D CAD – SolidWorks ideallyPrevious experience working within high volume manufacturing and within DFMTechnical experience with injection moulded plastics and rapid prototyping techniques (3D printing)Previous experience working with products that include electronic components Be able to generate design solutions to meet the technical specifications and then carry out hands on testing to check suitability by doing prototype buildsExperience of working with materials and be confident selecting materials for use in different environments including harsh environmentsGood organisational skills are required and good time management tooExcellent communication skills both verbal and written to work with other engineering colleagues in the UK and ChinaHave the ability to work well alone as well as part of a teamThe Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:Undertaking a range of design tasks using SolidWorks CAD softwareWorking closely with other engineering colleagues and teams in different countriesBeing responsible for all mechanical designs and fixing any issues to ensure designs are suitable and meet the requirementsBeing involved in developing and testing both new and existing productsSelecting the correct materials for the right environmentDevising test plansBringing innovation, creativity and problem solving skills to the roleThinking outside the box when requiredIf you are interested in this position, please apply with an up to date CV as soon as possible, along with your availability and your salary expectation
