Engineering Supervisor. Location ; SunderlandExcellent Salary and benefits The Engineering Supervisor will possess a comprehensive range of electrical and instrumentation knowledge with suitable experience for both trouble shooting and installation work.The ideal candidate will possess qualifications in hazardous area working (CompEx) and ideally within the wiring regulations (18th edition).Experience and knowledge gained working as a supervisor controlling allocation of jobs within a CMMS planning role, along with expose to mechanical works within top tier CoMAH regulations including corresponding environmental, health and safety legislative requirements are fundamental to this role. Responsibilities To be responsible to the Engineering Manager for: To ensure all duties and assigned activities are carried out in compliance with statutory legal requirements and the companies quality, health & safety and environmental policiesPromote a positive health and safety culture by sustaining good housekeeping standards, wearing correct PPE, reporting any observed near misses and isolating any unsafe situationsAdhere to Client policies and procedures completing all necessary documentation and performing the necessary routine checks and calibrations whilst maintaining the required standardsManage Engineering technicians to ensure the safe, standardised and efficient maintenance of all plant and equipment as per process CMMS task instructions, statutory requirements and technical documentationAllocation of daily work using CMMS job sheets and to supervise the E&I and mechanical technicians in the routine maintenance of the site equipment and close out of jobsResponsible for managing the correct installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of all mechanical and electrical equipment and instrumentation, ensuring all work undertaken to the highest standards and within required timescalesWork in conjunction with engineering administrator to manage CMMS jobs and task lists ensuring that the they are up to date completed on time and suitably closed outWork with engineering manager and chemical engineer to ensure that all contractor projects plans, improvements, repairs and shutdowns are performed to the appropriate standard and timescales and communicated to the engineering teamContribute as required to the raising of capital asset requests including the provision of specification requirements, resource, technical and process data. Approval of the design and build details to suit engineering requirements and ensure the timely and thorough commissioning and snagging and hand over of installed equipmentActively encourage the engineering team to identify appropriate repairs/upgrades and routine maintenance requirements are undertaken to maximise and maintain plant availability and efficiencyEnsure that engineering team are reporting all equipment defects and alarms and that they are appropriately handled ensuring unsafe all items are suitably isolated and communicatedEngineering team must follow Client permit to work procedures ensuring that a permit to work covers all work on plant. This must include a suitable risk assessment covering all the hazards including prerequisites for cleaning and isolations prior to starting taskSupport engineering department to flexibly respond to business needs through performing additional tasks including basic mechanical tasks, fork lift driving etc. in accordance with competencies and departmental requirementsAssist in the detailed planning, arranging additional resource or materials and the preparation work for plant maintenance or shutdown periods as requiredParticipate in MOC reviews, hazard studies, risk assessments and accident investigations as requiredFollow change management (MOC) system by ensuring that all actions have been approved and using own assessment ensuring no impact to normal operation or statutory requirements prior to any of engineering team physically making changeStriving to improve plant operation and control through maintenance support to maximise plant efficiency whilst identifying any potential continuous improvement opportunities to improve control, operation or maintenanceManage direct report holidays to ensure sufficient coverage maintained to service the plants. Managing all aspect of the engineering technicians team HR confirming that all absenteeism and disciplinary issues are collated and reported, individual performance is appropriately managed and reviewed as per Client proceduresProviding basic training or awareness for other engineers or operators in areas which they are expertEnsure all waste generated on site is disposed of efficiently in line with current legislation whilst maintainingAssist Engineering Manager in all aspects of his work and deputise as required in his absenceIf interested please email a up todate CV
