Job SummaryEmergency Medical Technician - Cramlington £16.40 per hour plus optional overtime, pension and holiday entitlement.To work as part of a double crewed ambulance (DCA) responsible for assessment, care, treatment, and transport of patients and their carers/relatives in urgent and emergency situations, whilst adhering to the operational procedures and directives of Ambulnz Community Partners and the client NHS Trust.To apply appropriate skills and the use of equipment safely and within appropriate level of training, competency and scope of practice.Recruiting for ValuesOur staff need to be physically fit and have held a full driving licence for 4 years as well as a holding a valid IHCD Emergency Medical Technician/FutureQual AAP, or Qualsafe FREC5 qualification. The role also requires an enhanced DBS disclosure.We are looking for people with excellent interpersonal skills, and who are empathetic and caring.The healthcare sector operates 7 days and nights a week and our crews are rostered on rotating shifts (4 on 4 off) so flexibility is required. The roles we have to offer are full-time 41 hour contracts.Main Duties And ResponsibilitiesTo provide a professional and caring service for all patients whilst in the care of Ambulnz Community Partners Ambulance ServiceUse of the appropriate knowledge and skills in order to make professional judgements and treatments inline with the appropriate level of training and competency.To work as part of a double crewed ambulance (DCA) to convey patients in urgent and emergency care settings.ClinicalTo work inline with the Trust specific scope of practice as detailed in the relevant client Trust induction and reference documentation.To provide and contribute to the care, effective treatment and safe transportation of patients, providing the highest standards of clinical and personal care within the inter-hospital and pre-hospital environment.To respond to clinical requirements of patients in a safe, timely and efficient manner as directed by a senior clinician on scene or remotely as per clinical guidelines/protocols.When working with a senior crew, support the work of the senior clinician by providing effective clinical care using appropriate knowledge and skills in order to assist them make professional judgements; conduct diagnostic procedures and provide safe and effective treatments as and when requested by the senior clinician in accordance with Ambulnz procedures, guidelines and protocolsAbility to organise and manage the scene of a complex incident during initial stages until a Manager/Commander arrives. This could involve organising or managing patients, bystanders or other responding services.Modify and adapt working practices to meet the clinical needs of the patient in an emergency and urgent care setting.As appropriate, and inline with client Trust guidelines treat refer or discharge patients who access the health service but who do not need hospital admission where clinically safe to do so.Participate in the development of an integrated approach to the delivery of emergency and urgent care involving all relevant stakeholders including health and social care organisations.Utilise appropriate and relevant information to assist patients, patient advocates or carers to make informed health choices in line with national guidance and the health promotion and prevention agenda.Make reasoned decisions regarding initiating, modifying or ceasing treatment or procedures and ensuring accurate documentation of decisions. Being accountable and responsible for clinical decisions made during the course of duty, and seek senior clinical advice where appropriate.Ensure compliance with medicines management. Ensures drugs are stored securely and where appropriate stocked according to both national legal frameworks and local policy.Make appropriate use of equipment which you are trained on, which may include various types of vehicles, diagnostic, invasive and therapeutic equipment.To respond to operational requirements, in a safe, timely and efficient way, as directed by Emergency Control Centre staff, senior clinician, scene manager or other authorised manager.To drive all types of approved ambulance service vehicles under normal and emergency (blue light) conditions, in accordance with the standards of Ambulnz and within road traffic law, taking particular care of the vehicle, its occupants and other road users.To ensure the safe transfer of patients, to and from vehicles, following health and safety and other appropriate protocols and procedures, taking account of the safety of patients, self, colleagues and others, using appropriate equipment and manual handling techniques.To ensure a continuous duty of care to patients, within the level of training, scope of practice and competency of this role, ensuring an appropriate level of monitoring and treatment is maintained and continued until the patient is either discharged or transferred to the care of another healthcare professional.Powered by JazzHRtbnhSNRWP8
