Climate17 are pleased to be partnering with a leading renewable power generator who operate a major portfolio of landfill gas assets across the UK.As part of their long-term business strategy, they are growing their renewable energy division and are planning to co-locate Solar and Storage on a range of existing sites alongside the development of new solar projects.Due to natural growth, they are seeking a Design Engineer who can add immediate value on their solar project pipeline.The RoleThe Design Engineer will be a key member of the growing solar team and manage all in-house design and engineering tasks as well as being the company interface with external design consultants. The Design Engineer will also oversee the engineering related aspects of solar construction projects and liaise with / provide advice and support to the project managers as required.Key TasksThe Design Engineer will be responsible for the fast and efficient provision of high-quality, mechanical and LV electrical solar and energy storage designs and drawings throughout the project development, design finalisation and construction phases of solar projects.These will span all the way from initial indicative designs for development support to full construction issue plans for the construction phase, and include all required documents, schematics and plans.The Design Engineer is a key role in creating and retaining internal knowledge and skills for a multi-year development program, and the role extends to the practical engineering support and oversight - in collaboration with the site construction and project managers - during the project construction phases.In addition, the Design Engineer will be supporting the component choices (technical supplier review) and be responsible for document management and version control related to all solar engineering documents.Qualifications and experienceEngineering degree in a suitable engineering discipline.2 years of recent design experience of utility scale solar PV ground mount and battery energy storage projects, in either an actively executing or leading/executing role - including generating layouts, detailed plans and schematics (mechanical and electrical) to construction issue level, as well as yield assessments.Electrical (LV necessary, HV desirable) and mechanical/structural engineering knowledge of all solar farm and energy storage construction specific aspects.Fully familiar and efficient with AutoCAD and PVSyst, as well as all other tools required for the design process.Strong practical working knowledge of solar farm and energy storage construction processes, build programs and requirements.Excellent team working skills, able to liaise with PMs and subcontractors as required during construction phase, and a hands-on attitude.High enthusiasm for building our carbon neutral future.Creative with a solution focused attitude, able to think outside the box when tackling project specific challenges.A solid understanding of the commercial and regulatory issues around UK solar and energy storage markets.Full UK (car) driving license (or international, unrestricted equivalent).
