Civil Engineer - Birmingham Area - Permanent Your new role Production of Civil Engineering work packages relating to medium to large predominantly private development projects from initial concept through to completionProduction of flood risk assessments (FRA's), Drainage strategies and calculations for planning and other statutory consentsWorking closely with other disciplines on Multi-discipline projectsRepresenting the company at external meetings with clients, contractors and fellow professionalsBe responsible for delivering work to a fee and to timescales agreed with a Project ManagerProject profitability (monitoring / planning of costs and budgets)Prepare client / project proposalsAssist in agreeing fee proposals and negotiating variations where necessaryBuild project teams from internal and external resourcesProcure project resources / specialist outworksAgree design philosophy / design fundamentals What you'll need to succeed Post-graduate experience in a similar role, ideally within a private practice working on predominantly private developmentsExperience in drainage layout and modelling (foul and surface water) and private roadway designGood working knowledge of Microdrainage or comparable drainage design softwareGood working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3d or comparable civil engineering softwareAbility to produce complete packages of work including calculations and drawingsAbility to distribute tasks and manage output of junior / technical staffCompetent in the design of external works for private sites including vertical and horizontal setting out in accordance with the Building Regulations, British Standards and local authority requirementsFamiliarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its application within civil engineeringGood understanding of section 38, 278 (Highways Act) and section 104, 106 and 185 (Water industry Act) agreements beneficialWhat you'll get in return 25 days holidayPrivate HealthcareLife AssurancePensionHighly competitive salaryHuge potential for progression and promotionWhat you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
