Description FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCESUEA LAW SCHOOLAssociate Professor in CriminologyRef: ATS987£51,034 to £59,135 per annumThe School is seeking to recruit an outstanding academic in the field of Criminology. Applications would be particularly welcome from candidates with teaching or scholarship expertise in Criminology or a closely related subject.The UEA Law School (LAW) was established in 1977 and is renowned for the high quality of its courses as well as providing an intimate, student focused experience. The School is based in the historic Earlham Hall building, which has been significantly renovated and extended to create excellent work and study spaces. This includes a purpose-built Law Clinic, where free legal advice is provided by our students to some of the most vulnerable in the local community, in partnership with the Norfolk Community Law Service.For 2021/2, the Law school has launched a fourth undergraduate programme: LLB Law with Criminology, to which this present vacancy is linked. This programme has Qualifying Law Degree status and allows students to combine a traditional law degree with a focus on the crime and criminology modules offered within the School, as well as many optional modules available on the BA Sociology programme, launched by UEA in 2020. The successful applicant will lead on the launch of the new LLB Law with Criminology programme. They will create and lead two criminology modules which will complement our existing suite of crime related modules. They may also be asked to contribute to core Criminal Law teaching where appropriate. ATS staff are also expected to provide a leadership contribution to teaching and administration while maintaining subject scholarship but without the requirement to conduct research. Applicants must satisfy all the essential criteria detailed in the person specification. Applicants will have a PhD in Criminology or a related subject, or equivalent experience - this could mean substantial teaching experience at a high level in the sector, and/or equivalent professional qualification.The post is available from 01 August 2021 on a full-time indefinite basis.
