Waste Management Officer |Location: Portadown | £16.24 per hour | 37 hours per week CPL working in partnership with their client, a Public Sector Organisation based in Portadown, is seeking to recruit a Waste Management Officer, on a 3-month contract.Job duties:1. Responsible for the day-to-day management operation and monitoring of the Refuse, Recycling, Composting, Trade Services, Bulky Collections, Street Cleansing service and Public Toilets. 2. Monitor and control waste contracts necessary to ensure the contracts operate correctly in accordance with the current contract terms and conditions. 3. Ensure that waste management performance management information is maintained and where appropriate performance targets achieved on behalf of the Council. 4. Responsible, in liaison with line management (Waste and Recycling), for devising, implementing, and maintaining performance management information systems in accordance with the related contracts (including payment mechanisms). 5. Monitor, control and record a program of inspections undertaken by the Waste Management Team to ensure the maintenance of high standards of street cleanliness and the performance of any related contracts. 6. Respond to complaints in respect of the Refuse Collection, Public Conveniences and Street Cleansing Services, all in accordance with the Councils Customer Care Policies. 7. Familiar with and able to undertake when necessary, manual, and computerised database management, including the generation of service management reports relating to the services. 8. Manage and be responsible for the GIS based routing systems to continually monitor and maintain optimised waste collection and street cleansing routes. 9. Maintain up to date knowledge of any legislative changes and their potential implications. 10. Improvement of program and service quality by devising new applications; updating procedures; evaluating system results with users. 11. Visit waste contractor sites as appropriate to ensure the effective operation of the service. 12. Assist with the development and delivery of the Operations Service Business Plan and the key Operations Service priorities within the Council’s Corporate Plan.13. Responsible for communicating and implementing the Council’s customer care standards, as appropriate. 14. Assist with planning, initiate and control projects and trials aimed at improving performance, raising service standards, or to overcome operational difficulties. 15. Incident management including maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of all incidents (slips/trips/falls/vehicle accident etc) and ensure compliance with RIDDOR requirements. 16.
