Research Assistant/Associate (Fixed Term)

We are seeking a post-doctoral research associate (or research assistant if very near to PhD thesis submission) to work at the Department of Psychology, University of Cambridge. The position will be within a project on mental health effects of social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, utilising innovative smartphone technology and data collection across multiple sites and countries. The project team consists of Prof Sarah-Jayne Blakemore, Dr Amy Orben, Prof Rogier Kievit and Dr Livia Tomova. The post-holder will sit with Professor Blakemore's research group; the project is funded by the Jacobs Foundation.The post-holder will be expected to carry out research in the area of mental health, loneliness, social media and cognitive processing in adolescence and adulthood. They will be responsible for helping to design and run a study utilising a pre-existing smartphone app, which will also administer experience sampling. The study data will be collected online over multiple sites in a range of international schools and other online recruited samples, and the post will therefore require the applicant to be skilled in project management and organisation. The post-holder's responsibilities will include programming tasks and questionnaires, participant recruitment, data collection, data analysis and writing-up the results, under the supervision of the team. The post-holder will be based at the University of Cambridge. Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 year in the first instance. The start date is 3rd May 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter.
