We regulate the television, radio, fixed-line telecoms, mobile telecoms and postal sectors, plus the radio spectrum over which wireless devices operate.The Nations team in Belfast is part of Ofcom’s Corporate Group. The team reports to the Director of Public Policy. Our role is to represent Ofcom in Northern Ireland, and to represent Northern Ireland within Ofcom.We support the Board, senior management and the wider organisation to ensure Ofcom acts as an effective regulator, building strong relationships with external stakeholders, engaging on and helping to shape policy issues and maintaining Ofcom's reputation.Reporting to Ofcom’s Northern Ireland Director, the role combines responsibility for all the administrative matters of Ofcom’s Belfast office, with making a significant contribution to the policy work of Ofcom’s team in Northern Ireland.Requirements of the RoleAs a Regulatory Affairs Advisor, your responsibilities will include:Administrative matters- Maintain all returns, reports and other relevant material relating to Ofcom Northern Ireland’s finances and procurement, in conjunction with the central Finance team- Co-ordinate the day-to-day facilities management of Ofcom’s Belfast office, in conjunction with the central Facilities team- Act as the first point of contact in the Belfast team for Freedom and Information requests and GDPR compliance- Provide input to planning applications for all new wind turbines in Northern Ireland, assessing them for potential interference to licensed radio links, and reporting the outcome on the NI Planning Service’s online portal- Act as first port of call for visitors and telephone enquiries- Provide PA support to the Director and Advisory Committee Members for travel and expensesPolicy work- Provide support to Ofcom’s Advisory Committee for Northern Ireland- Help organise the quarterly formal Committee meetings as well as ad hoc informal meetings- Produce minutes of formal meetings- Keep the Committee informed on relevant issues- Liaise with Ofcom project teams on engagement with the Committee- Help the Committee develop its programme of work- Lead Ofcom’s Media Literacy work in Northern Ireland, primarily through participation in the Digital Assist Steering Group and the Irish Media Literacy Network- Maintain the ‘Forward Look’ work planner for the Nations team in Belfast- Maintain the Contact Database of all our Northern Ireland stakeholders- Contribute as required to the organisation and delivery of Ofcom’s programme of events and attend stakeholder meetings.CompetencesEssential skills/Experience:You will:- Have excellent administrative skills- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communications skills- Demonstrate attention to detail- Be able to organise and prioritise workload- Be able to work as part of a small team and be proactive in offering or seeking assistance when workloads are fluctuating- Be proficient in MS OfficeFurther InformationDiversity and InclusionOfcom is a forward-thinking, inclusive employer and recognises the value of diversity to truly “make communications work for everyone”.
