Operational Buyer

Job PurposeLG Engineering Solutions are recruiting for an Operational Buyer to join a market leading Tanker Manufacturer, based in Solihull. The succesful person will have a good background in Purchasing, ideally within an Engineering or Manufacturing business.You will help to contribute towards the purchasing strategy, ensuring customer demands are met through innovative supply chain management.Job Responsibilities * Work closely with the supplier base, managing relations accordingly * Support both the operations & NPI teams in regards to supply issues * Keep your ear to the ground with market trends and analysis, ensuring the business keeps up to date with current compliance, remaining competitive * Taking part in activley reviewing current supplier base, whilst identifying & developing new sources and suppliers * Conduct regular meetings and reviews of suppliers, addressing any potential issues * Achieve the best possible price through skilled negotiations with suppliers * Measure KPI performance for the purchasing department, both internally & externally * Strive to input and develop LEAN processes into the procurement function * Travel to suppliers within the UKSkills & Qualifications Required * Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel * Previous experience of working with various MRP systems * A great understanding of Purchasing & Manufacturing methods is essential * A good understanding of finance and accounting is desired * A CIPS qualification is desired, currently completing CIPS is advantageous (Will contribute to completing CIPS)
