Heating/ Plumbing Technician

RoleAs a Heating / Plumbing Technician for the Maintenance Department you will be required to carry out all plumbing and mechanical building services installed throughout the University including heating/ventilation and all equipment associated with mechanical building services. Ensuring all statutory, planned and breakdown works are completed safely, cost effectively and to the agreed KPI's and Service Level Agreement.Duties and responsibilitiesInitial Priorities:Carry out the annual Planned Preventative Maintenance to the Thermostatic Mixing Valves and Thermostatic Showers on the PPM schedule. Assist with reducing the outstanding backlog of works by taking on outstanding PPM works and reactive works not yet completed by existing staff.Overall scope of the role over and above the initial priorities include:To respond to individual job requests via the job notification system, phone and Radio, including emergency requests. Ensuring each job is seen through to completion , including the arranging if access as required, ordering and chasing materials, liaison with customers and continuous updating of the job status via the tablet.Types of work may include but not be limited to: * Unblocking drains including toilets and urinals, which may involve taking apart and cleaning, reporting unsolvable problems to specialist contractors; * Replacing fixtures and fittings (taps, sinks, urinals, waste pipes etc.) * Repairing and replacing of showers, shower heads, cubicles, trays, baths, sinks etc. * Fixing leaks. * Repair / assist with replacement heating systems and associated equipment within all buildings on campus. * Attending to Emergencies as required * Diagnosing problems and suggesting courses of action. * Cleaning, de-scaling and adjusting temperature controls of showers. * PPM to Thermostatic Mixing Valves * PPM to Water Cooler Dispensers * Comply with all health and safety regulations and University policiesSkills and experience * A recognised apprentice background or equivalent training or significant years of working experience is required within the mechanical building services industry. * City and Guilds/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in plumbing / HVAC * Extensive experience of building services in a similar environment, for example working with a range of repairs and using a variety of materials and the ability to carry out a range of plumbing and mechanical fitting activitiesLocationUniversity of WarwickAdditional informationPredicted Interview Date: TBCStart Date: ASAP following interview stageEnd date: August 2021Please provide a suitable covering letter when submitting your applicationAd deadline: Sunday 14th March 2021
