The role has only became available as the current long term Design Engineering Manager is leaving to now work within his own family's successful business. The company specialise within structural advanced composite / plastic products into the likes of sectors such as WWW, Rail, Electricity, Pharma, Marine, Commercial and offshore. They have a busy order book.The new successful Engineering Design Manager will plan and co-ordinate projects including R&D and assist in developing effective customer solutions. This includes management of a small internal design and development team and external consultants - working collaboratively with all departments and stakeholders. This position is reporting directly into the General Manager.The role of Engineering Design Manager:Plan, schedule, coordinate, monitor and control all work and projectsProvide a strong link between Design and ProductionAttend site visits and briefings to gain an understanding of the client's requirementsLiaise with customers, architects and engineers to achieve design goalsManage the technical review process at the start of each project, helping to identify potential issues as early as possibleEvaluate all design work and design projectsReview and improve design methodologies, processes, techniques and equipmentLeading the Company's R&D into the development of new designs and productsReport and update Directors and other departments on current design work and projectWork collaboratively to ensure cross functional activities are managed effectivelyCoaching and mentoring of the Design team members, review and identify training requirementsAny other duties, within reason and capability, as determined by the General ManagerEssential criteria for the role of Engineering Design Manager A relevant third level qualification in an Engineering related subjectMinimum of 3 years previous experience in a similar lead design or project lead role; where you have a level of experience in guiding and directing other design related individuals right through from concept with the customer, to completionStrong competency in the use of Solidworks specificallyProficient communication and people directing skills; along with a strong work ethic and attention to detailAbility to be flexible to meet with business needs, inclusive of some travel to client sites - mainland UK, Republic of Ireland and Europe as you needHold a valid driving licenceIf this role is of interest contact Hugh Nugent to discuss this in absolute confidence or send an updated CV via the link on the page.By applying for this role, you accept the terms of processing, please find our privacy policy on our website
