Design Engineer

Design Engineer (Supporting Manufacture and Installation) Ashleigh Signs is a designer, manufacturer and installer of innovative signage working directly across the UK and Europe for a robust client base. The Normanton based business strives to add value for its clients continually and genuinely differentiate itself from its competitors by providing a turnkey, one-stop solution. As part of their on-going business development programme, the business seeks to recruit an experienced professional to fill the post of Design Engineer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing and leading the full design process from ideation to production. You will draw new designs and update our current designs. During the creation process, you will ensure that our designs meeting all necessary design responsibilities.  Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Join our in-house design team to create technical manufacture and fixing drawings to design and install signage/signage-related structures.Assist with site inspections/surveys as required to inform the development of drawings and technical details.Manage multiple complex projects at the same timeEnsure our designs meet manufacturing, technical and customer ResponsibilitiesEnsure that all design projects are completed within budget and timeWork with construction drawings to help design and integrate suitable sign support solutions.  Ensure that drawings produced comply with the relevant business quality standards, are dimensionally accurate and are fit for the intended use.Create job-specific Design Risk AssessmentsProvide consultation to in-house manufacturing departments (i.e., fabrication and assembly departments) to ensure accurate design execution.Assist in changing and developing more efficient processes and CAD tools to improve engineering services, internal competence, and client delivery.Able to estimate basic engineering stress/load calculations Essential criteria: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Engineering BEng., Mechanical Engineering, etc.)Strong communication skills with the ability to discuss complex issues at all levelsHaving a passion to challenge the brief and overcome problems and enable the development of innovative solutions.Ability to work on different paced projects. Some that develop over days and some that require months of planning and preparation·      Mentoring, training and developing junior CAD technician(s)Proficiency in Solidworks or similar CAD softwareSupply detailed requirements to third parties for outsourced work and produce accurate BOMs to enable the manufacture of the design.5+ years of experience working in a relevant engineering field (e.g., Construction/Manufacture) Knowledge and experience of design risk assessment processFull driving licence Desired Skills and Knowledge (Non-Essential)Prior signage experienceKnowledge of ISO (9001, 14001, 45001) accreditations with regards to design and developmentWorking towards membership of a relevant Professional Body, e.g., EngTech, IED, CSD.Good working knowledge of CDM regulations, including the responsibilities of designers and principal designersCSCS Professionally Qualified Person, or similar.  Salary: NegotiableLocation: Normanton, West YorkshireJob Type: Permanent
