Chemist - Fluorescent Nanoparticles - Cambs

My clients in Cambridgeshire are looking for a Chemist - Fluorescent Nanoparticles. This role is commutable from Cambridge, Bedford, St. Neots, Huntingdon, Sandy, Yaxley. KEY RESULT AREAS: -Design, synthesis, purification, functionalisation, and characterisation of novel fluorescent nanoparticles for use in fluorescence imaging. -Repeat syntheses of fluorescent nanoparticles already established within the company. -Widen the company Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio by inventing novel concepts and technical solutions. MAIN ACTIVITIES: -Synthesis, purification, functionalisation, and characterisation of novel fluorescent nanoparticles to meet technical performance requirements. Produce proposals to adapt and improve fluorescent nanoparticles according to performance and specification requirements. -Repeat syntheses of fluorescent nanoparticles already established within the company. -Assist in identification and contacting external experts to accelerate progress and evaluate new proposals. -Identification of Intellectual Property (IP), filing of invention disclosures, and providing feedback to ensure high quality patent applications. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED: Essential: -Chemistry PhD, or a Chemistry degree coupled with equivalent industrial work experience. -Demonstrated expertise in the design, synthesis, purification, functionalisation, and characterisation of novel nanoparticles to meet a technical need. -Clear and confident communication when discussing complex technical concepts, with the ability to tailor to appropriate levels for different audiences. -Strong team-work and the ability to operate in multi-disciplinary / cross-functional teams. Desirable -Experience with the applications of fluorescent tags for use in fluorescence imaging. -Experience of working with luminescent materials. -Experience in organic synthesis. -Experience in the Stöber process for making silica nanoparticles. -Experience with Dynamic Light Scattering and Zeta Potential analytical techniques. -Experience of programming for automation of data analysis. -Experience of generation of Intellectual Property (IP). -Experience of evaluation of market needs and construction of business cases. -Experience in identifying collaboration partners.
