Business Development Manager

We continue to remain at the forefront of the testing services industry, building an enviable reputation.Within the Commodities division, ALS is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Business Development Manager to join the team of their leading Reservoir Characterisation Laboratory, either UK or Continental Europe based. The candidate will be accountable for driving new and profitably growing existing business in wellsite, core/ rock analysis and sample management solutions in the Oil & Gas as well as New Energy Segments across Europe and Africa.ResponsibilitiesThe Business Development Manager will be reporting to the Head of Business Development–OG & New Energy of the ALS–Guildford-UK business unit and will support the attainment of financial budget and forecasts of the said business unit by meeting or exceeding all corporate and business goals related to development of business in the designated region and markets. Responsibilities and expectations include the following:New Business Development Focus Work and align with the Head of BD, Marketing, Business Stream Leaders and other internal and external resources to identify, qualify and develop new business development opportunities.Engage in and manage BD activities and initiatives across your regions, prospects and key accounts, principally in Oil & Gas and New Energy. This would include understanding market changes, learning new players and making introduction with key decision makers.Develop and implement strategic sales plans for new and existing business opportunities.Work closely with other BD team members to enhance service reach especially in New Energies such as (but not limited to) Geothermal and Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) applications.Deliver revenue growth across prospective and existing clients.Develop a strong understanding of rock (core and cuttings) analysis workflows in Oil & Gas as well as New EnergiesAcquire operational knowledge regarding new products and/or markets to create targeted sales plans for new business streams and actively pursue these opportunities.Conduct presentations regularly to industry executives.Participate in industry events to hunt for new business opportunities and promote the company.Monitor, report, manage and prioritise all BD activities and sales pipeline.; maintain a pipeline forecast and share to the team during e.g. weekly meets.Lead, manage and participate in the preparation and compilation of major tenders for new and existing accounts to ensure the most effective sales strategy, and relevance, accuracy and quality of all information.Strategic Key Account Management Work with nominated key accounts to ensure consistent, high quality account management and assist in the development of plans that will ensure account retention and maximize account performance.Develop new and deliver further revenue growth across existing accounts.Collaborate with account managers and laboratory managers also across other ALS business streams to address high-severity requests and challenges.Be deeply engaged and knowledgeable of operations processes, industry landscape, best practices, and competitive drivers.Provide feedback on current trends in market and client requests, with a view to ensuring current products/services meet the changing requirements of clients.BD Process Development & Product Innovation Plan and Coordinate implementation of processes/technologies that may improve the overall BD process.Monitor, review, and analyze new technology to assess the feasibility of utilizing the technology within the business based on business needs, budgets and resource availability.Assess new technologies to determine potential value for the business based on market trends, sales strategy etc. The position requires strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively communicate. This individual will have diverse technical and commercial background in the technical services sector for drilling/ exploration applications in Oil and Gas and must demonstrate understanding of both technical and commercial aspects of Services/ Products, Operations, Quality, and Business Development within the industry.QualificationsPosition Requirements:A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Oil and Gas Exploration, Drilling or Energy Sectors, with considerable track record in successful Business Development and contract negotiations.Earth Sciences degree or bona fide experience.Determined and strategic with a keen drive to achieve and succeed.Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, thorough and meticulousExcellent communication skills and the ability to relay technically complex information in an engaging manner.Existing knowledge or experience in Formation Evaluation, Core Analysis, Petrophysics, Reservoir Characterisation, or Logging tools is preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging technology, market directions and strategic application to business needs.Excellent project management skills, including ability to effectively deploy resources and manage multiple projects of diverse scope in a cross-functional environment.Strong business acumen in identifying opportunities, developing business cases, and delivering strategic solutions.The desire and ability to travel.Ability to work under pressure within tight timeframes and deadlines.Projects enthusiasm and motivation and a desire to learn.Ability to think laterally and logically.Entrepreneurial thinker.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and skilled person looking to develop their career in an international company.
