We have a contract vacancy for an enthusiastic assistant herdsperson on brand new state of the art robotic unit in Somerset, 5 miles from Glastonbury in Somerset. This exceptionally well managed family unit has 250 pedigree Holsteins yielding 10,500 litres from a very young herd. A full grass based TMR is fed all year round while cows are housed in mattress cubicles with sawdust bedding. An auto-robot scraper is used along with the 4 New Lely astronaut milking units.The appointed person will be working alongside the farmer on a day-to-day basis and be willing to undertake all aspects of herd management duties or be trained up.This position would suit a college leaver or student/starter in dairying. Interest and attitude being more relevant than experience.A good mobile home will be supplied along with a competitive package.
