Assistant Engineering Manager - Johnstone McGill’s Bus Service Ltd is Scotland’s largest privately owned Bus Company and employ around 800 employees within four locations based at Greenock, Johnstone, Inchinnan and Coatbridge depots. We are looking for an experienced Assistant Engineering Manager to join our Johnstone depot. The primary role is to carry out a wide range of duties which includes supervising the engineering workshops to ensure that all health and safety requirements are met and that all vehicles are repaired to the highest possible standard, carry out workshop inspections to ensure that all buildings and equipment are maintained to the required standard, supervise the vehicle inspection program, operating shift patterns to provide optimum cover for the business needs, carry out audits on any vehicle, company records or depot equipment to ensure compliance to McGill’s standards and to assist in the smooth operation of the depot as required by the Engineering manager. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES •To ensure that vehicle inspections are completed as per the company 28 day inspection programs. •To carry out pre-MOT inspections. •To support the engineering team to achieve the required McGill’s standard on vehicles safety and presentation. •To lend support to the engineering team to fault find and diagnose faults on any vehicle. •To keep up to date with any legislative changes or legal requirements. •To liaise with operations to provide the daily peak vehicle requirements. •To participate on any relevant training in order to develop personal skills, knowledge and service standards. •To conduct toolbox meetings and deal with the day to day running of the depot.
