Our Maintenance Operations Engineering Technicians will ensure that the Caterpillar products within the Electric Power Generation Equipment product group are maintained, refurbished and reconditioned in accordance with Finning standards. Our Apprentices will make key decisions in order to fulfil customer needs and ensure the effective operation of equipment within the foreseeable future.THINK BIG, APPLY NOW.Job Description:Major Job Functions:Travelling to and from multiple sites in order to conduct various aspects of the job roleUndertake a detailed inspection of the generation system inclusive to confirm or expand on any initial field inspection report so that a commercial assessment of the likely maintenance, repair or replacement work can be madeCarry out standard diagnosis tests on the generation system components to enable more accurate cost evaluations or for the issue of condition and warranty agreements to customersProduce a comprehensive list of parts and materials required for the proposed systems preparation of workUndertake overhaul, repair or refurbishment work on the generation system to the agreed work plan, removing and dispatching components for specialist attention, re-installing the original or replacement part or repairing original partsInspect and test completed generation system both mechanical and electrical to ensure unit is operating to expected performance levelsWork indoors and outdoors and be prepared to sometimes work at heightAttend and participates in all training provided or information sessionsUses a computer for entry and retrieval of information for work assignmentsCommunicates effectively orally, in writing, and electronicallyThe standard will meet the professional standards of the Engineering Council for registration as Engineering Technician (Eng Tech) by an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution.Specific Skills:Flexibility, organisational and time management skillsExcellent attention to detail, work accuracy/numeracy and quality orientatedWork autonomously on own initiative and also well as part of a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the businessMotivated and dynamic self-starterStrong planning and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlinesEffective problem-solver with strong analytical skillsA committed and positive attitude along with an obvious customer focus and the ability to build a positive rapport with customersWillingness to travel to perform daily work tasks.Knowledge:An understanding of basic engineering principlesAn understanding of importance of health, safety and environmental standardsCommercial awarenessEducation & Experience:A passion for engineering.Work experience in an engineering background preferableUK Candidates - GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in English, maths, science and ITROI Candidates - Expectation to have a minimum of Grade D in 3 subjects in the Junior Certificate (Inc.
