Job DescriptionAlternative and Renewable Energy Program LeaderPosition Summary:Program owner for the delivery of the Global Alternative and Renewable Energy program including the Sustainability 2030 Carbon Footprint program’s energy cost savings and GHG emissions reduction goals. The Program Leader will work with each Business Unit (BU) to align and deliver on their 1 - 3 & 10-year Cost Savings and GHG reduction targets and develop detailed GHG emission reduction glidepaths illustrating solutions required to reach Net Zero. Primary responsibility is accelerating the reduction of absolute GHG emissions through the use of external business model development, adoption of current best practices & standards, identification and execution of new technologies and identification of new pathways (scouting) to identify strategic, new to KC, technologies and accelerate cost savings. This role will also support the fundamental pillars of Carbon Footprint strategy: Energy Conservation, Lean Energy and Scope 3 emission optimization.Key Responsibilities:Annual planning with each Business Unit (BU) to align on 1 year, 4 year and 10-year targets associated with alternative and renewable energy initiatives needed to achieve S2030 Carbon Footprint targets.Drive technology scouting and tracking efforts to help each Business Unit create their 10-year alternative and renewable energy project portfolios.Establish and manage external partnerships to allow for the identification of new thermal and electricity renewable technologies, develop a Net Zero GHG emissions roadmap for Kimberly-Clark broken down by region and develop potential external business model solutions to deliver projects.Lead the assessment process of new alternative and renewable energy projects, from prescreening, through deep-dive, pre-engineering and appropriation. Support the execution and start-up of strategic on-site projects.Consolidate and lead a global cogeneration technology focus group, in order to create standards and best-practices.Develop close relationships with BU energy leaders and provide support for regional energy leaders and their teams to enable capability to deploy alternative/renewable energy strategy in their regions.Guide the implementation of continuous improvement within deployments and support interconnection to enable benchmarking.Influence on GSC and BU leadership for adoption of alternative energy and renewable energy projects.Establish priorities, seek business alignment and partner with business unit teams. Leverage relationships and influence appropriate corporate, functional, and facility team members, including Regional Sustainability Business Partners, Energy Team members, Sustainability Strategy team members and business unit EHS/Sustainability leaders, for effective alternate and renewable energy project implementations.Provide a core technical engineering resource for steam, power and cogeneration, which is found nowhere else within K-C, including mentoring of mill personnel assigned to these areas of responsibility.Focus areas will include:Check, adjust and refine the alternate and renewable energy strategy, goals and targets, and manage its deployment to deliver targeted glide path for GHG reduction and economic value creation for S2030.Work with BU to develop a portfolio of alternative/renewable projects through 2030 and help with the creation of business cases for larger strategic projects.Develop an external partnership business model that can be used by Business Units to both accelerate the delivery of their GHG reduction programs and reduce the reliance on internal capital spending.Build a comprehensive strategy using standard CI tools such as A3s, scorecards, glidepaths, business cases that includes the identification, planning and execution of the portfolio of projects and initiatives to deliver the Carbon Footprint 2030 targets.Collaboration with our global business units (BU’s) to develop and align to renewable and alternative GHG and ECS deliverables each year.With each BU, identify and lead 3rd party service provider needs in each region that will help each BU create a net zero pathway, identify regional applicable new technologies, create an investment roadmap and accelerate the delivery of savings and GHG reduction targets.Guide the development of alternative and renewable energy standards and support their deployment from within the energy best practices in order to maintain the portfolio (currently 600 ideas and initiatives proposals) to support annual deployment by regions of up to 200 conservation projects annually.Technical direction & collaboration with all global and regional environmental, health, safety and sustainability team members. Work towards clear, cogent, practical and action-oriented written and oral communications that focus on the problem, recommend solutions and take into consideration the audience being addressed.Contribute to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results.Basic Qualifications: Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or foreign equivalent degree.10+ years’ overall experience in energy, power, utilities management or related fields – Experience with alternative energy and renewable energy technologies desired.Major capital project leadership; energy management experience required and strong project management skill set.5+ years mill engineering experience.Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and OPEX, being familiar with the mindset, culture and transformation process.Excellent presentation, communication and decision-making skills.
